Business challenge
Safe3W, Inc is an international provider of authentication services for enterprises with its headquarters in New York, USA and its development center in Herzelya, Israel. Their flagship product is IDshield™ – a strong authentication business solution. The management of Safe3W investigated how to reach the market faster with reduced development costs. They needed to implement a number of strategically-important integration projects and it had to be done promptly and successfully.
Safe3W partnered with Archer Software for the custom implementation of RADIUS server.
Value delivered
Archer project manager visited the Safe3W site in order to discuss the project requirements and learn the Safe3W framework. Archer engineers, working in tight collaboration with the customer, developed and implemented a custom version of the RADIUS server in only three months. The solution had the following features:
- RFC compliance
- authentication and accounting requests processing
- proxy support
- multithreading environment
The in-time delivery of the solution made it possible for Safe3W to integrate their IDshield™ product with RADIUS-complaint environments. This allowed them to gain clients who previously could not use their product.
Happy with the success of the RADIUS project, Safe3W established a long-term relationship with Archer Software and consequently outsourced to Archer more than 10 Research & Development projects. During next 2 years Archer delivered:
- Client software to integrate IDshield authentication with CheckPoint Firewall/1
- IDshield VPN client software – IDshield Launcher
- IDshield Launcher plug-in for integration with CISCO VPN (Concentrator 3000 Series VPN)
- IDshield Launcher plug-in for integration with Nortel VPN (Contivity 4000 VPN)
- IDshield Launcher plug-in for integration with any PPTP-based VPN
- LDAP Adaptor module for translating IDshield authentication requests to LDAP (Microsoft Active Directory and general LDAP support)
- LDAP Synchronizer module for synchronization IDshield and LDAP databases
- Implementing support of CISCO ACS in IDshield
- Integration of SSPI framework into IDShield solution
- Installation system for IDshield VPN software
- Research on how to configure programmatically 802.11 authentication options in Windows XP (required analysis of Windows assembly code)
Result
The united efforts of Safe3W and Archer Software have made IDshield the world's leading authentication solution.
The popular remote security vendor iPass, whose were technology partners with Safe3W, in the process of deepening their computer and network protection, decided to integrate IDshield technology platform into the iPass solution and settled on purchasing Safe3W. Before closing the deal, iPass architects and technology officers analysed thoroughly the internal IDshield design and source code. The entire solution including the critical parts written by Archer got a high evaluation from iPass engineers and the purchase of Safe3W was finalized in October, 2004.
Currently Archer Software continues to work with the iPass development center in Israel.
